In recent years the development of new technologies have allowed for more concrete and realistic system solutions in regards to smart grids, Smart Grids increasingly represent the entire future development of the electric power system.
The STRIDE project aims to provide a comprehensive support for regional/ local policy makers in Danube region for improvement of energy planning by integration of Smart Grid concepts.
Although prepared from a technological standpoint to implement Smart Grids, the Danube region is still in the early stages of the actual deployment of smart distribution systems, as regions and local communities across the Danube area lack knowledge and capacities for the integration of Smart Grid concepts into regional and local policies. Local policy change to integrate the Smart Grid concept is essential in the further development of Smart Villages, Smart Cities or Smart Regions. Following a regional situation analysis, a Smart Grid strategy will be developed and attempts will be made to support their successful application in the partner regions.
The partnership is well balanced with competent partners, including energy agencies, a university, R&D organisations, energy clusters and policy makers. The partnership expands across various regions, ranging in various levels of economic development. The partnership composition is crucial and combines different roles in order to provide comprehensive solutions adapted to the needs and specific characteristics of participating regions.

The Hungarian partner of the project is the Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd. for Applied Research.
