Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd. for Applied Research participates in the project FOstering a Recycled European Silicon supply (FORESi).

The general objective of the FORE-Si project is to create the first worldwide industrial demonstration of the cradle-to-cradle silicon value chain, contributing to Europe’s sustainable energy sovereignty. It implements the design of an optimized recycling, turnkey factory for photovoltaic panels at the end of their life cycle, paving the way for European industrial mass production of recycled silicon. FORESi presents a fully circular recycling process from end-of-life solar cells to the application of new photovoltaic and EV batteries.

The project demonstrates the technical, economic, and environmental viability of the entire recycling process. According to the Basel Convention and the European Union’s new Regulation on waste shipments, which is under approval, all member states must carry out the technological preparation locally for the recycling of critical elements as a secondary source.

By participating in the project, Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd becomes the central technological expert in the recycling of solar panels in Hungary.
